Week 4 · Seas and Trees: Art of the Landscape · June 30-July 3
Katsushika Hokusai; The Great Wave off Kanagawa, 1831
Landscapes show scenes in nature (mountains, forests, rivers, fields, deserts, seas, and more) with a wide view of a particular location, often including the sky. The subject is the natural environment rather than people or man-made things. Even when representing a real place, artists may use creative license to emphasize a certain aspect of the landscape or convey a certain mood.
Create your own landscape art (real or imaginary) through drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, collage, sculpture, or mixed media.
