From Hokusai’s, The Great Wave off Kanagawa, to the Impressionist works of Monet to Winslow Homer’s love of the power of the ocean, water has been a part of art’s inspiration since the beginning of time. Be inspired with endless opportunities to express yourself through the motivating power of water!

Utilizing new mediums including acrylic paint, pastels, and clay, mini-makers attempt more advanced two-and three-dimensional art forms, such as drawing and painting, printmaking, paper mosaic, sculpture and paper mache. Class projects will change weekly to correspond with this years camp theme--The Art of Nature. This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours with a snack break outside.

Wayne Art Center staff and volunteers provide a supervised 1/2 hour lunch and play period outside on picnic tables for only Full-Day students. Campers are picked-up from morning art classes, supervised for a half-n-hour of lunch/ play-time. At 12:30, staff escort students from outside and bring them to their assigned studio to start their afternoon art classes. Students are responsible for bringing a packed brown bag lunch (nut-free, please) and water bottle to eat during LUNCH BUNCH.

Campers dig deep into the history of clay and even deeper into their imaginations as they sculpt decorative and functional ceramics. From rolling slabs, creating coils, and utilizing glazes, this camp involves participants in each step of the ceramics process as they develop ideas from their imagination and eventually place their work into the kiln to be fired. Class projects change weekly to relate to each unique theme inspired by The Art of Nature. This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours with a snack break outside.

This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours with a snack break outside.

Campers study work from well-known artists for inspiration and build skills in drawing forms, animals and people. Class projects will change weekly to correspond with each week's Art of Nature inspiring theme. This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours with a snack break outside.

Learn to draw funny faces and silly scenes incorporating the tips and tricks of cartooning, including the use of exaggeration to make characters come to life and tell a story. The first few days are spent building pieces, then campers experiment with design and colorful glazes for the remainder of the week. Class projects will change weekly to correspond with each themed week inspired by The Art of Nature. This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours with a snack break outside. NOTE: Please have campers bring a box on Friday to take home finished pieces and plan to return a week later to pick-up final glazed clay projects.

Class projects will change weekly to correspond with this years camp theme, The Art of Nature. This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours with a snack break outside.

Needle Felting is one of the oldest forms of textile art and has become increasingly more popular. It is a technique that involves compacting a ball of colorful, unspun wool using a felting needle tool to create different 3D shapes and forms.Students are guided through the steps of learning about wool, how to use the felting instruments, and learn to turn the wool into unique shapes. All materials and tools will be provided. Sheep samples are on display in the lobby.

Students create drawings and paintings daily based on various still life setups. Campers use the same materials as professional artists, including charcoal, ink, oil and chalk pastels and various types of paints--watercolors, acrylics and oils. Class projects change weekly to educate students about different well-known artists, their works and explore the weekly themes inspired by The Art of Nature. This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours.

Create sparkling sun catchers from colored glass! You will learn the basics of the copper foil technique including creating a pattern, glass cutting, grinding, foiling and soldering. Go home with a beautiful finished piece at the end of the week to hang in a window and catch the sun!Safety glasses required. Feel free to bring your own pair or borrow from the instructor. Please wear closed-toe shoes, long pants and tie back long hair.This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours.

Take wheel throwing skills to the next level in this week-long intensive ceramics course! Whether just starting or well acquainted to the wheel, this class teaches you tricks and techniques to make functional pots, bowls, cups, and plates. Young ceramicists discover rules of centering and pulling clay to make functional items, as well as learning about glazes and the firing processes. Class projects will change weekly to correspond with each themed week inspired by The Art of Nature. This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 1.5 hours.NOTE: Please have campers bring a box on Friday to take home finished pieces and plan to return a week later to pick-up final glazed clay projects.
