The world of stone carving is at your fingertips! Have fun learning to carve stone using traditional hand and power tools. Students choose a raw piece of soapstone or alabaster on their first day of class. Following step-by-step instructions about basic stone carving techniques, students turn a block of stone into a 3-Dimensional sculpture piece, using hammers and chisels.

Camaraderie working with others help students watch and adapt new ideas and techniques; enhancing their knowledge, experience, and understanding of sculpting with stone. All tools and materials are included. Safety glasses will be provided.

Campers create unique and personalized jewelry. They learn to use basic sawing and filing methods and will work with soldering and non-soldering techniques of jewelry fabrication.

Projects change each week so campers can continually learn new techniques and skills throughout the summer. No two weeks are the same and no previous jewelry experience is necessary. All materials are supplied.

Campers use the same materials as professional artists, including charcoal, ink, oil and chalk pastels and various types of paints--watercolors, acrylics and oils.

Class projects change weekly to educate students about different well-known artists, their works and explore the weekly themes inspired by
Art Across America.

This afternoon class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours.
