A portrait is created by depicting a person, group of people, or even yourself (yes, a “selfie” is a type of portrait). Portraits capture a person’s appearance, personality, or mood and can be a way to express how the subject wants to be seen. Learn how to express your subject’s feelings by creating portraits of family, friends, pets, or yourself. Artists: Caravaggio, Mary Cassatt, Chuck Close, Frida Kahlo, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Alice Neel, Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, John Singer Sargent, Vincent van Gogh, Diego Velazques, Johannes Vermeer, Grant Wood, Norman Rockwell
