Mission:
Dedicated to enriching our community through the arts, the mission of Wayne Art Center is to afford artists and the broader community an interdisciplinary venue to explore, share and learn, while fostering a sense of community for arts education and appreciation.
History:
Established in 1931 as the first art center on the Main Line, the Wayne Art Center provides instruction in the visual and performing arts. From its humble beginnings in a carriage house on Louella Avenue to its now expanded 30,000 square foot facility on Maplewood Avenue, Wayne Art Center has been continuously serving the cultural needs of the community for 95 years!
Wayne Art Center welcomes more than 35,000 visitors and program participants annually. Nearly 6,000 students register for more than 500 classes and workshops, and more than 1,800 children enroll in the Center’s popular Summer Art Camp. Through an active and diverse schedule of monthly exhibitions, Wayne Art Center attracts artists and visitors from throughout the United States and abroad, providing opportunities for artists to exhibit their work and to educate and introduce our community to new trends in the arts.
Wayne Art Center has a long commitment to bringing the arts to all members of the community, whatever their means and abilities. Through our outreach programs, we form partnerships in our community to increase access to the arts and provide arts enrichment activities for underserved populations and those with special needs.
It is through the dedicated efforts of all members of our community that Wayne Art Center has become a cherished cultural resource.
