If you’d like to learn new decorating techniques, this workshop is for you. If you’d like to discover how the extruder can open up a whole new world of creative forms, this workshop is for you. Best of all, when you’re done, you’ll have a teapot to admire. The teapot brings together many different techniques into one piece, and the form lets us play with all the various elements: body, handle, spout, and lid. You’ll be introduced to a host of surface decoration techniques including colored-slip-printing with hand-cut Tyvek stencils, stretched slabs, impression boards, and different resist approaches with wax and latex. As a bonus, we’ll discuss how to make your own hand tools and brushes, along with the basics of custom extruder dies. This workshop will also interest throwers who'd like to expand their horizons beyond the wheel.
