One of the nation’s oldest societies dedicated to the art and science of metalsmithing, the Pennsylvania Society of Goldsmiths (PSG) is a non-profit organization that provides its members with opportunities for increasing their knowledge and skills through information exchange, workshops, lectures, society meetings, exhibition and gallery opportunities, networking, supplier discounts, and educational newsletters. Although the name of the organization implies a focus on creating work in gold, PSG members work with many other media, including silver, copper, brass, steel, wood, found objects, and plastics.
PSG members have received accolades both nationally and internationally for their creativity, originality, and technical execution. In addition, many academic members have received national grants and have been recognized both for the caliber of their teaching and the quality of their publications.
Although the society’s members include some of the finest jewelers, metalsmiths, and academicians in the country, membership is open to educators, students, hobbyists, and jewelers/metalsmiths at all levels of experience. The PSG membership base is concentrated in Pennsylvania, but members also reside in a number of neighboring states as well as in the western United States and Canada.
