Moving on to The Minneapolis Museum of Art (1958-60), he was appointed Chief Curator, and then Acting Director. From 1960-65, he worked as the founding Director of the Rose Art Museum and Associate Professor in the Art Department at Brandeis University, in Waltham, Massachusetts. From 1965 to 1968, he was the Director of the Jewish Museum in New York. He recently published a book entitled, “Modern Art” Painting, Sculpture, Architecture” and is currently working on a monograph of Leonard Nelson, a member of the New York School who is known as the “bridge” between Modernism and Abstract Expressionism. (Leonard Nelson’s work will be on display for a special viewing at the Wayne Art Center on May 12, 2001 from 4-7pm.)
