Barbara Grossman was born in New York City where she attended the High School of Music and Art. She received a B.F.A. from Cooper Union in 1965. In 1967-68 she lived in Germany as a Fulbright Scholar. Upon returning to New York City, she became a founding member of the Bowery Gallery where she exhibits regularly. Her works are in many collections including the Arkansas Art Center, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Bryn Mawr College, National Academy Museum in New York and the State Museum of Pennsylvania. She has taught in numerous institutions and since 1993 has been a Senior Critic and Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania and a visiting Critic at Yale University School of Art and Architecture in New Haven, CT.
