Fred Jackson has sketched the outdoor landscape since a young age with his father. “Some dads play catch with their sons, my dad took me outdoors to draw,” said Jackson. Fred’s interest in art and nature guided him to the design field of landscape architecture, which he practiced for more than 30 years. Good drawing and observation skills are important components to both landscape design and painting. Fred began his career in oil painting about nine years ago with a desire to explore the artistic challenges that come with creating paintings. For the past two years, Fred has been an award-winning juried artist at many prestigious national plein air events. He has gallery representation at Gallery 222 in Malvern, PA. and Bryan Gallery, in Jeffersonville VT. Fred’s plein air paintings express a fresh energy evoked from observations of a place.
