Villanova head coach Jay Wright spoke to an audience of basketball and culture fans at the Wayne Art Center on Wednesday, October 7. As the opening speaker for the 2015-2016 HomeGrown Lecture Series, Mr. Wright touched on topics on and off the court, emphasizing the importance of education and a strong college support system. “We are so impressed by Mr. Wright’s dedication to his student athletes,” says Nancy Campbell, Executive Director of the Wayne Art Center, “His passion and drive are evidenced in the academic and athletic success of the Villanova basketball team.” The Wayne Art Center thanks Mr. Wright for his engaging lecture, the audience for their rapt attention, and the HomeGrown Lecture Series sponsors, especially the Hamilton Family Foundation and First Priority Bank, for their support. The next lecture (and a short violin performance) will be presented by David Kim, concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

HomeGrown: Lectures, Learning, Locally is a series of presentations given by local experts that address issues ranging from business, politics and healthcare to history and the arts. Former Radnor High School teachers Lois Wysocki and Susan Wolf launched the lecture series in collaboration with the Wayne Art Center in 2013-2014. Recognizing the enormous wealth of talent and experience among the local community, Wysocki and Wolf have made it their goal to bring to light the fascinating knowledge and journeys that have brought extraordinary people from our local area to their present positions. Lectures will take place at the Wayne Art Center from 7:00 to 8:00 followed by question/comment sessions. Evenings end with refreshments and an opportunity to socialize with neighbors and friends.
