This workshop will focus on painting the clothed figure from life. We’ll look at the considerations of setting up lighting on the figure and the role that light plays in the composition. The process of painting will start with a tonal study (grisaille) to block in the values and composition, then move to initial color notes, and then to more developed color. Demos include lighting the figure, understanding the relative values, grisaille and block in, and how to use the palette of colors to create light and shadow, warms and cools, and luminous skin tones. Demos, handouts, and one-on-one feedback at your easel in a supportive atmosphere
