Not Your Grannies Prong Settings with Caryn Hetherston

This 2-day workshop will focus on making nontraditional prong settings for stones as well as found objects. Students should have basic fabrication and soldering skills. Materials needed will be sheet metal, copper, brass or sterling silver in 20-22 gauge and copper or fine silver in 20-18 gauge for prongs. Students should bring semi-precious stones and found objects suitable for jewelry projects.
Caryn L. Hetherston is a studio art jeweler with 40 years' experience. She makes one-of-a-kind art jewelry and sculptures with wearable elements using precious metals, unique stones and found objects. She strives to make work that is both timeless in design and made to be very wearable and durable to stand the test of time. She is also a member of a group of artists who make work out of found objects called "The Trashy Women ". Her work is featured in magazines and books, and she has won numerous awards.
